At IET, we recognise that our staff are the thing that makes us successful and are our most valuable asset. As a Trust we are committed to supporting all staff to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be. We have a number of CPD opportunities which staff can access, from newly qualified teacher, to subject development and progression to headship. We are committed to providing CPD to all staff, not just teaching colleagues.
We work closely with a number of organisations including Learners First and Ambition who offer CPD programmes including all NPQs (National Professional Qualifications; NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH and NPQEL). We are keen to offer staff other opportunities such as training to become Specialist and Local Leaders of Education (SLE and LLE). We are an outward facing Trust and work with a number of other settings offering and receiving Peer to Peer support. These links enable staff who wish to develop or research a particular area the opportunity to visit and work with other academies and Trusts to widen their experiences and work with like-minded colleagues.
All our academies offer regular internal training sessions drawing on the wealth of experience and expertise across the trust. These are a mixture of academy specific and whole trust sessions. Each year, the whole Trust comes together in the Autumn term to share ideas and train together, with external speakers and deliverers providing the main part of the day.
We are able to offer staff opportunities to work across our academies to develop identified areas and work across a broader spectrum of settings.
Staff new to the profession have access to a strong NQT and RQT programme incorporating internal and external input. Staff new to the Trust although not new to the profession also have access to a clear induction programme to support them in settling quickly and easily into our Trust.
Across the Trust we use our appraisal process to formally identify areas of development and interest to individuals. Staff are encourage to discuss with line managers at any time of the year if they feel they have a training need or would like to undertake training or additional qualifications.
Staff wellbeing is important to us. Alongside professional development opportunities, IET offer staff an Employee Benefit scheme through our partner Sodexo. All staff have access to a free and confidential 24/7, 365 days a year employee assistance helpline providing support and guidance on a wide range of issues including legal specialists and accredited counsellors.
This scheme also provides perks for employees such as high street and online shopping discounts (including supermarkets, restaurants and food outlets, days out, department stores, cinemas etc) as well as savings on holidays.
We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice in our local communities, as well as reputationally attracting staff from all over the country.
